INTRODUCTION
If you have ever hunted or spent any time at all in South Texas, you have more than likely heard of the Rhode Ranch of McMullen County. The ranch was established in 1901 and ever since has been legendary in its ability to year in and year out grow some of the largest whitetail bucks in the state. For decades access to hunt the Rhode Ranch’s monster deer has been limited to a guest or two of the owner’s family, every few years or so. Not that is very “limited” access! The owners have practiced a high degree of land stewardship always trying to improve the native habitat to best suit the needs of the wildlife as well as for prime cattle grazing. A truly rare opportunity only comes along once in a lifetime and this opportunity to own a part of one of the most tightly held ranches in South Texas is rare indeed. Having extremely large, game managed neighbors, fantastic vegetation, excellent amounts of all types of game, and possibly the best native whitetail genetics found anywhere make this 3,803 acre pasture of the Rhode Ranch the absolute best hunting ranch to become available for purchase in years.
LOCATION
Located in the renowned “624 Corridor,” the ranch is accessed via a 1 mile all-weather road (easement) which extends north from FM 624. The entrance is approximately 4 miles west of the intersection of US HWY 59 & FM 624, 22 miles SW of George West. Corpus Christi is 49 miles to the East and San Antonio is a 2 hour drive to the north. The county seat of McMullen County is Tilden and is 32 miles to the North.
TERRAIN/VEGETATION/SOILS
Without a doubt this ranch possesses ideal high protein browse for producing trophy caliber deer. The predominant brushes found here are granjeno, guajillo, guajucan, prickly pear, black brush, lotebush, catclaw, Brazil brush, hog plum, persimmon and of course mesquite. There are huge bull mesquite trees and a few hackberry trees scattered over the entire property. These brush types are essential, along with good genetics in having quality deer every year. The sandy loam soils found here are highly fertile and produce excellent broad leaf forbs and native grasses such as curly mesquite and pink pappas grass. The ranch has approximately 295 acres of Klein grass (fantastic quail food) and also a 138 acre tillable food plot located in the NE corner which has been planted in wheat each year. The southeastern end of the property, approximately 490 acres, is planted in a mixture of coastal Bermuda and Buffel grasses with 90 acres of brush as well. This is a prime bird hunting & grazing area and also an excellent place to see those bucks during the rut! This property has some of the prettiest views around made possible by the near 100 feet of elevation change in several locations. The hills are scenic overlooking the numerous creek drainages and valleys. The ranch definitely has character and also boasts very nice places to build a home or ranch headquarters.

HUNTING
THE BEST! That is a bold statement but is absolutely correct. Deer scoring 170+ Boone & Crocket, having multiple drop tines, 30” + spreads, 20+ points, and great mass circumferences have all been harvested on the Rhode Ranch over the years. While deer of this caliber have been harvested, in general countless other big deer have only been viewed by the owners and guests to many of the largest deer inhabiting the entire 11,000+- acres owned by the Lindholm family. The quantity and quality and condition of the deer herd is in excellent condition. In order to harvest Boone & Crocket class deer, you must hunt where they live. This is where they live. This ranch has tremendous amounts of bobwhite quail, quite a few blue quail, mourning and white-wing dove, and many Rio Grande turkeys as well. The owners have had limited cattle grazing over the years which has contributed to the plentiful amount of quail and turkey here. The turkeys are normally spotted in or around the 2 stock tanks and the creek drainages while the quail are everywhere.
CARRYING CAPACITY
Being cross-fenced several times, having coastal, Klein, buffel, as well as native grasses and brushes make this a very diverse property indeed. The normal carrying capacity of this 3,803 acre ranch is approximately 1 cow/calf unit per 20-25 acres.
WATER
There is 1 excellent water well that will produce 12-15 gallons of drinking water per minute & 3 cased water wells located throughout the property. Underground water is plentiful here. The quantity and quality of the water itself will vary from location to location but generally speaking potable water is available throughout most of the ranch. There are 2 stock tanks, one of which is large (approximately 4-6 surface acres when full) and the other has a bar pit type construction of around 7,000 cubic yards. The owner has piped water to many areas of the pasture via 2” pvc lines and water troughs. The many ravines and creek drainages provide excellent opportunities for additional surface water to be captured via earthen dams.
MINERALS
None will be conveyed. THIS IS A SURFACE ESTATE ONLY. There is currently some production located in the NW corner of the ranch.
